TORA

Simply Perfect

Alaskan Husky mix | 50lbs | Female | 5 years old | Good with dogs | Good with cats | Medium Energy | Crate trained | Fostered in Oshawa, ON

Vetting: Lyme positive

Adoption fee: $600

Meet our most perfect lady, Tora! Tora is an alaskan husky and is approximately 5 years old. It is believed that she was previously used as a sled dog but beyond that, her life history is unknown. Tora came to us through a Quebec kill shelter where her time was running out.

When Tora arrived to us, she had multiple mammary masses that were removed during her spay and sent for testing. Unfortunately, they did come back as mammary cancer. The good news is that our veterinary was able to confirm that with the removal of the masses, proper margins were taken and she is currently cancer free. Her adoptive family will have to keep an eye out for future masses, but this is typical with any and all female dogs. Additionally, she tested positive for Lyme disease during our initial vet visit. Thankfully, Tora did not exhibit any symptoms of Lyme disease upon her diagnosis. So although she is positive, there was no treatment necessary, and she will continue to live a normal life.

Tora currently lives in a foster home with dogs of varying ages, cats and kids (youngest is 2 years old) and she is fantastic with everyone. She loves humans and is great with everyone she meets - if anything, she is overly friendly and will walk away with a stranger if they offer her more pets than she gets in her foster home. Tora is great both in and out of the house with other dogs. She will play with other dogs when invited but she is also happy to chill in their presence. Tora does love a good zoomies moment!

Tora is great in the crate and is house trained but is working on her leash manners. At this time, she will pull during the initial excitement phase of the walk but will quickly ease into her humans pace and becomes the perfect walking buddy. Tora is fantastic at the vet and will let them do whatever they need to do - she will happily enjoy the treats that they use to help gain her love but she definitely doesn’t need them as help.

Tora is currently working on her threshold training. She likes to try to rush out of doorways, but her foster parents are working hard on ensuring that this behaviour is corrected. Otherwise, there is not much in terms of manners that this girl needs help with!

Here’s what Tora’s foster family wants you to know about her:

Tora would thrive in a home with tons of human attention. She could be with a dog, cat or kid friends but she does not absolutely need them in her home to be as happy as she can be.

Tora is a very loving, no stranger danger kind of girl. She is so gentle and loves playing with the kids. She is pretty quiet in the house but is also ready to go on any adventure.
