A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER

Tango was a family dog of mine that unfortunately left us in December of 2017. Tango was a huge part of our family and is an even bigger part of who I am today! I had been trying to figure out how to honour Tango for quite some time, and opening a rescue has always been a dream of mine. With those two facts in hand, putting the two together made complete sense, especially because he is the first ‘bad’ dog that I ever had, but also the best dog that I have ever had! Tango was a Rhodesian Ridgeback and was quite a character. As my family always said, he is the best, bad dog. He was the type of dog who wasn’t scared to tell you exactly how he felt - if he did not want to be pet, he would let you know right away that he was having some ‘me’ time (which was 90% of the time). He was not a fan of other dogs and rarely liked to mingle outside of our family, but it worked. He was perfect!

WHY ARE WE HERE?

Tango's Lead Canine Rescue & Sanctuary is dedicated to those who need us the most; the ‘broken’, whether this be dogs with undesirable behaviours or medical concerns, as well as the senior dogs of the world. Tango’s Lead will be the heart and home to many dogs. We work primarily with kill shelters that find themselves with too many dogs and limited resources to rehome them, while also taking in senior dogs who find themselves homeless during their golden years. While these pups will be our focus, we will also work together with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and other remote Northern Communities to assist in the population of unowned animals. With help from our incredible foster homes, we will get to  know the personalities and needs of each of our dogs so that we can find them the perfect humans to show them what living is all about!
