Major is a 2 year old Northern dog – best guess would be a husky/lab mix but we
seriously suspect some bully mix as well. He is a lot smaller than he looks in pictures,
and is nice and compact!
Major came to Tango’s from a community in Northern Quebec, and spent his life
chained outside. He has adjusted very well to life in a house. He has energy to burn
which is easily managed with regular exercise. Being a Northern dog, he is very dog
social. He is affectionate with people, untested with kids but we suspect he would be
just fine.
Major is learning to relax in the house very well and most of the day is content to follow
you around the house.
Major’s typical day is as follows: out of the crate when everyone wakes up, out to pee
and zoom around the yard. Breakfast in the crate, and then relaxing in the house til walk
time (varies depending who is working). Walk for about 1 hour, mostly on long line, and
then lunch again in crate. Relax in house with backyard breaks. Dinnertime (in crate of
course), and 2 hours later another walk hopefully with off-leash opportunity. Then
hanging out with the family and bedtime!
Major is pumped about life and gets pretty excited – can’t blame the guy! He gets
excited when he sees other dogs and other people and wants to pull to see them. He is
working on patience, especially when it comes to going in and out of doors and getting
his collar and leash on. Major wears a harness when we want him to pull and burn
some extra energy, and a pinch collar when he needs to heel – he is a dream to walk
with that on.
Major is PERFECT in the car. He loves to go in and settles right in and lays quietly. He
is good to get bathed/dried off, but can be a little wiggly. His nail trims need some work
but that’s part of the patience lesson.
A perfect home for him will be one where he gets regular exercise and socialization. He
plays wonderfully with other dogs and you can tell he just wants to see everyone. He is
truly a lovely boy with so much to give.
